Fat Thursday..? How cool is that.?? Is it possible..? oh yeah… Only in Poland ..!

Yes it’s National Polish Pączek ( Doughnut ) Day .. People were queuing in a bakery ( cukiernia ) all morning to get those beauties..

Why am I writing in English about my Own Country Tradition ..? Because all Polish People know it.. I want You to know a bit more about Us Poles.. ; )

Ha ! Fat Thursday ! ( Polish Tłusty Czwatek ,Hungarian Torkos Csütörtök,German Fetter Donnerstag , Greek Tsiknopempti , Turkish yağ Perşembe) ; is a traditional Catholic feast marking the last Thursday before Lent and is associated with the celebration of Carnival. Because Lent is a time of fasting, the next opportunity to fast would not be until Easter. . Traditionally it is a day dedicated to eating , when people meet their friends and relatives and eat large quantities of sweets , cakes and other meals forbidden during Lent.. Among the most popular national dishes served on that day are pączki ,fit – sized donuts filled with rose marmalade , and faworki ( Angel Wings – how beautiful is that ? ) ; )

I’m not going to bother You with history as it’s began in 17th century..Quite THO !

Just to let You know that following Tuesday it’s a herring night in Poland..Fish and Vodka !
